The Freedom Movement – Southern Branch, headed by Evaz al-Abdan, called on Basra residents to stage a protest on December 27thagainst the Iranian regime’s widespread intervention in this province, Azzaman daily reported.
“The presence of the Iranian regime in Basra is unacceptable, trampling all limits,” Evaz al-Abdan said in a press declaration published in the Azzaman daily. “We must stand and resist vis-à-vis this regime.”
“Recently, a vehicle packed with explosives originating in Iran and intending to bomb the Turkey exhibition was confiscated in Basra,” he added. “If these explosives had come from an Arab country, the whole world would rise against it. However, since these explosives had originated in Iran, it was quickly disregarded and gathered up, postponing the issue to a later timing.”
“Iranian banks opening in Basra is in violation of international sanctions and these Iranian government banks will act as the Iranian regime’s financial arms for its presence in Iraq,” this declaration continues.
“We are declaring and emphasizing that the evil presence of the Iranian regime in Iraq is very existential,” the declaration further added. “Military presence in the form of paramilitary forces, financial presence in banks and providing financial aid, and also a political presence which we have felt that in Basra with every cellule of our body. We will strive to bring an to this malignant cancer.”
