Dr. Nadim al-Jaberi, Secretary General of Fadhilat Party, in an interview with Azzaman, the Iraqi daily, denied rumors about the return of his party to the Iranian-affiliated coalition and called it a “political suicide”.

Regarding the establishment of a national salvation front from nationalist parties, Dr. al-Jaberi said: “This is our honor and pride that we implemented this new policy, and when we were leaving the UIA (Shiite coalition tied to the Iranian regime) we said that this step is not a marginal tactic, rather it is a national necessity and a start for forming a political coalition based on national understandings. …”

In answer to the question that ” Positions about the PMOI is divided between opponents and sympathizers of Iran’s policy. What is Fadhilat Party’s stance on this issue? Dr. al-Jaberi said: ” We speak based on our national interests. As a result, these stances have no relation with anybody else, and there is no indication of regional meddling in formation of these positions. Some specific parties might have relations with the Iranian government that leads them toward similar stances with the Iranian regime’s regarding the PMOI; but we believe that, based on our national interests, we should consider that the PMOI have come to Iraq legally and there has been no proof to their interference in Iraq’s internal affairs.”
