United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said the crisis in Syria has become a shameful sign of faction amongst the international community, Al Arabiya TV reported on Thursday. He emphasized the Geneva-1 statement is the only international solution to end the conflict in Syria.
“After more than four years of slaughter, the Syrian conflict is a shameful symbol of the international community’s divisions and failure,” he said. “Atrocious crimes are now almost an hourly occurrence, fed by a lack of accountability for the major human rights violations committed over the past four years and through decades of repression.”

Resolving the current crisis in Syria is the responsibility of all interlocutors, especially Bashar Assad, Ban said in a speech in the UN Security Council.
