Arab media coverage of Camp Liberty missile attack

The missile attack against Camp Liberty has received wide coverage in Arab media. The following is a brief update on this coverage:



Al Rafedein TV, 9 Feb 2013 – A missile attack targeted Camp Liberty in Baghdad and left 56 PMOI members killed – including one woman – and wounded. The United Nations has verified this incident. Sources said Maliki is preventing the treatment of the wounded in Baghdad hospitals.


 


Al-Qad daily (Jordan), 9 Feb 2013 – A spokeswoman for the UN mission in Iraq and Iraqi security officials verified the death of a number of PMOI members in the Saturday morning missile attack on their camp near Baghdad.
UNAMI spokeswoman Eliana Nabaa told AFP a mortar attack targeted Liberty leaving numerous residents killed and wounded.
The Kurdish Peyamner News Agency also wired a report on the early Saturday morning attack against Camp Liberty.


 


Al-Taqeer TV (Iraq), 9 Feb 2013 – 56 members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran have been killed and wounded after a missile attack against Camp Liberty in Baghdad.
Camp Liberty in west Baghdad was the target of a missile and mortar attack, the PMOI said. This organization called on the United Nations Secretary-General and the United States to return its members to Camp Ashraf.
Al Hurra TV reported a number of PMOI members were killed in a missile attack against Camp Liberty near Baghdad.


 


NINA news agency (Iraq), 9 Feb 2013 – A security source said Camp Liberty, home to members of Iranian opposition PMOI who were previously transferred to this Liberty from Camp Ashraf, was the target of a missile attack. One woman was among those killed in this attack.
Baghdad TV said reports indicate a missile-mortar attack against Camp Liberty in Baghdad left six people killed, including one woman, and 50 others wounded.


 


MTV TV (Lebanon), 9 Feb 2013 – A UN spokeswoman in Iraq and Iraqi security officials declared early this morning a number of PMOI members were murdered in a missile attack on their camp near Baghdad.
A source in the Iraqi Interior Ministry verified “five Iran opposition elements were killed and forty others wounded.”
