In an interview with the Sawt Al Iraq website, Iraqiya Coalition leader Dr. Ayad Allawi condemned Maliki’s sectarian policies.
“Political sectarianism has rocked the country… Maliki’s current policies and his management of the country are in line with this and especially, in line with breaking apart Iraq’s society,” he said.
“Therefore, we must be suspicious of those existing people and parties in government that are heading towards increasing sectarianism and leading to the country’s collapse,” Allawi added.
“We insist on finding a solution to exit this crisis that has reached a catastrophe. This is not just a crisis anymore, and it is becoming a catastrophe. I personally believe the most adequate solution is to hold early elections in Iraq, this government to resign, an administrative government to be established and the UN to supervise over the elections. This is my personal opinion and I believe this is the final solution to end this crisis,” he continued.
“According to our information, these demonstrations will continue; and not only in the provinces that receive news coverage, but in fact in the southern provinces and Karbala we are witnessing demonstrations being held against Maliki’s government and condemning political sectarianism. In my opinion, in other southern provinces we will be witnessing similar demonstrations,” Allawi added.
