The Palestinian Authority led by President Mahmoud Abbas, the Fattah Movement and Hamas rejected the Iranian regime’s request and Ahmadinejad’s proposal to hold a Palestine summit in Tehran, the state-run Asr-e Iran daily reported.
“Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas rejected Ahmadinejad’s proposal on hosting reconciliation talks and negotiations between Palestinian groups in Tehran,” said senior Fattah and Palestinian Authority member Saeb Ariqat. “Mahmoud Abbas has said the path to Palestinian national reconciliation is through Cairo and if anyone seeks to take part in this process they must refer to Cairo.”
The mullahs’ media outlets covered these positions with the utmost disappointment and wrote: “Hamas official Qazi Hamad rejected Ahmadinejad’s request, saying he doesn’t approve transferring Palestinian peace negotiations to the Islamic republic of Iran.”
Hamas official Salah al-Brodil said, “Egypt has taken great steps on the issue of Palestinian national reconciliation, and it would not be wise to transfer this dossier to Iran or any other country.”
Remarks made by Palestinian Authority and Hamas officials firmly rejecting a reconciliation session being held in Iran under the mullahs’ rule come at a time when the director general of international affairs in Ahmadinejad’s office claimed his request was welcomed by the Palestinians.
Numerous accounts of lies and fabricated remarks associated to those participating in the recent Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran continuously increase Khamenei’s defeat and disgrace in this session.
