Al-Seyassah (Kuwait), 30 Sep 2012 – The US State Department issued a statement Friday announcing the removal of opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran from the terrorist organization black list.
The Secretary of State decided, according to the law, to remove the PMOI and its affiliates from the List of Foreign Terrorist Organizations, the State Department said.
We will never forgive or forget its past terrorist measures, including their involvement in the murder of American citizens in Iran in the 1970s and attacks on US soil in 1992, she stressed.
“I understand that this decision was difficult and required political courage. This has been the correct decision, albeit long overdue, in order to remove a major obstacle in the path of the Iranian people’s efforts for democracy,” organization leader Maryam Rajavi said in her statement from Paris.
“In the days and months ahead, we hope to better introduce ourselves and our goals to international community and the American people,” Rajavi hoped, emphasizing, “We propose a non-nuclear Iran, peace, security, democracy, human rights, stability, construction, friendship, and economic development in this region of the world as well as respect for international laws and conventions.”
