
In remarks published in the Azzaman daily, Iraqi MP Karima al-Jawari stressed on the importance of US intervention for the protection of Ashraf, saying “this case is related to them and from the beginning of the occupation they insisted on their responsibility on the issue of protection, yet unfortunately they have refused live to up to their responsibilities.”
“The Iraqi government is seriously seeking to enforce a siege on Ashraf and place them under prosecution,” she added, “while they have committed no sin other than opposing the regime ruling their country.”
“The Iranian regime’s interferences in Iraq and especially in Ashraf have reached a very dangerous stage,” al-Jawari added.
She condemned the siege on Ashraf residents and the prevention of their access to food and medical care, calling for international protest in this regard.
