NEW YORK (Daily American) Sept. 28, 2015 — Iranian-Americans and their supporters were demanding the removal of the country’s government.
Thousands gathered Monday near the United Nations, where Iran’s president was scheduled to speak.
Protesters said more than 2,000 people have been executed in the past two years.
This year, a key issue is the Iran deal just approved by Congress that would lift economic sanctions in return for restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program.
A former U.S. ambassador to the U.N., Bill Richardson, spoke at the rally. He stressed that he was very concerned about a possible arms escalation that could endanger Israel and the region.
The rally was led by two groups: the Organization of Iranian-American Communities and the National Council of Resistance of Iran.
