In an article in Asseyassa daily, Dr. Abdul-Adheem Mahmoud Hanafi, director of Research and Evaluation Kanana Center in Cairo, emphasized the necessity of guarantee of Ashraf protection.
The article titled “Tehran and its revenge for its covert nuclear plans’ revelations” partly reads: “I am surprised why some people seek to make doubts that Iran is after acquiring nuclear bomb. The doubts as to the Iranian regime’s nuclear program evolved to certitude when in August 2002 the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran revealed two nuclear centers in Natanz and Arak for enriching Uranium out of control of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). ”
Dr. Mahmoud Hanafi added: “The PMOI movement, one of the biggest and most organized forces, enjoys support of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) and is protected by the U.S. Army after signing an agreement with them in 2002. The ICRC has clearly emphasized that Ashraf residents shouldn’t be displaced, expelled or to extradited to another country. They are covered by the non-refoulement principle. Transferring Ashraf protection has caused a great concern to public opinion, institutions, human rights personalities and parliamentarians because the Ashraf residents are the prime target of the Iranian regime.”
