In an interview with the Babeliya TV on March 2, Dr. Saleh Mutlaq, leader of the Iraqi Front for National Dialogue, called Rafsanjani’s visit of Iraq a big aggression against the will and sensations of Iraqis and an effort to return sectarian strives to that country and condemned it.
Dr. Saleh Mutlaq: “Today, after the Iraqi people have decided to get rid of sectarian tendencies, we see that Rafsanjani has come to Iraq after others to bring back sectarian strives to Iraq again. I, therefore, believe the presence of this person in Iraq will have a negative impact on Iraqis’ feelings and even on the political process. He has come to Iraq to pressure the Iraqi government for closing the Camp Ashraf of the PMOI, because he is worried of the presence of an organized dissident organization in Iraq, and he wants to have an open field to do anything he wants in Iraq without facing any reaction or revelation. Therefore, it is likely that this visit ends with a deal between the two countries for putting an end to the PMOI’s presence in Iraq, but I think the international conditions would not allow such a thing under current circumstances.”
