Iraqi MP Faeze al-Obeidi condemned the insistence of Maliki’s government to relocate Ashraf residents to a new location and preventing the UN to carry out its work to reconfirm the residents’ refugee status in Ashraf.
“Truly, what is the difference for them to be here or there, and what interest does the government have in their transfer?” al-Obeidi said. “Therefore, a committee must be assigned by the Iraqi Parliament Human Rights Committee to go to this new location and determine is it humanely suitable for Ashraf residents or not?”
