Iraqi MP Barhan Mohammad from the Kurdish coalition said it is the right of Liberty residents to keep their assets and property.
“Refugees in Camp Liberty are facing harsh conditions because they don’t have their property, and the lack of humanitarian standards in the camp,” he said.
“A UN working group recently published a report saying the two camps of Ashraf and Liberty have been turned into prisons by the Iraqi government,” the Iraqi MP added.
“A location must be taken into consideration for these refugees that is habitable, with their needs and protection provided for,” he continued.
“Where ever they may be, it is the right of these refugees to have in possession their assets and property. Also, they must be allowed to transfer their assets. This is a natural right for them to be able to transfer their assets where ever they may wish,” this Iraqi MP continued.
