The Association of Jordanian Intellectuals in Defense of Ashraf issued a letter to UN Secretary-General condemning the death of Liberty resident Behrooz Rahimian due to Iraqi government preventing medical treatment for him, adding such dangerous and immoral measures and harassment committed by the Iraqi government against political refugees in Liberty residents are considered war crimes.
Jordanian intellectuals demanded the following:
1- Iraqi government’s limitations and pressures on Liberty residents’ medical care be lifted.
2- Residents be allowed to bring their medical equipment, including CT scan from Ashraf to Liberty.
3- Liberty residents are considered refugees and under international protection and they must be allowed freedom of movement.
