
Iraqi parliamentarians urge their government to coordinate with the UN to resolve the crisis in Ashraf, call for the withdrawal of Iraq’s armed forces and lift the siege on Ashraf, the Iraqi newspaper Azzaman wrote.
Iraqiya Coalition member Omar Khalaf urged al-Maliki’s government to coordinate with the European Union’s special envoy for Ashraf. Positive results will be achieved if the subject is done under the framework of dialogue with the government, Khalaf said.
Senior Iraqiya Coalition member Dr. Zafer al-Ani called on the Iraqi government to cooperate with the UN and European Union to reach a peaceful and legal solution for Ashraf residents. The Iraqi government must end violation of rules and international obligations regarding human rights and the rights of asylum seekers and refugees, al-Ani said
