NINA news agency, Baghdad, 6 March 2012 – Iraqi MP Fallah Hassan from the Iraqiya Coalition called on the government to permit journalists and jurists into Camp Liberty located near the Baghdad international airport to have access to Iranian refugees who have recently transferred to this site from Camp Ashraf residents.
“The Iraqi government’s obligation is to allow entrance for journalists into this camp to become informed of the humanitarian conditions of the camp residents,” Fallah Hassan said in a press statement.
This Iraqi MP said in his opinion the “Iraqi government continues to be under Iranian regime on this issue”, adding “it is important for the government to implement international laws in this regard and for the UN to stop the transfer of Ashraf residents to Liberty until the reasons of the catastrophic conditions at the new location – which is virtually a prison and not a refugee camp – are determined.”
