Iraqi dignitaries, organizations welcome Spanish court writ on Ashraf attacks

Iraqi dignitaries, organizations welcome Spanish court writ on Ashraf attacks

Former Interior Minister Fallah al-Naqib said, “The Spanish court writ in respect to aggressions against Ashraf residents’ rights provides an opportunity for the international community to look into other issues and cases regarding human rights violations in Iraq.”
The Iraqi Committee of Lawyers and Jurists in Defense of Ashraf issued a statement saying, “This ruling shows the international community’s persistence and efforts to pursue any violation in which individuals are subjected to oppression and gruesome human rights violations.”
The Association of Independent Iraqi Jurists announced, “The international judiciary has very correctly expressed its stance through the Spanish court, a court having international jurisdiction in analyzing crimes that lead to the violation of the International Humanitarian Law or Geneva Conventions.”
The Center for Legal Studies for Progress and Human Rights in Iraq issued a statement saying, “We unanimously consider this Spanish court writ as being in accordance with the law…”
The Association of Sympathy with Ashraf’s Wounded Residents issued a statement saying, “We approve this writ. These criminals do not deserve to be in such posts.”
Iraqi MP Dr. Neda al-Jabouri, member of the Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee stressed the Spanish court writ proves the aggressions that have taken place.
