French parliamentary committee calls on UN chief for necessary minimums in Liberty

The French Parliamentary Committee for a Democratic Iran issued a statement to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon emphasizing on the urgent need to provide minimum humanitarian standards in Camp Liberty.
The statement is as follows:

2,000 Ashraf residents transferred to Camp Liberty in groups based on promises presented to them by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq Martin Kobler, with this assurance that their requests for minimum humanitarian necessities would be answered with the next transfer. However, none of these promises have been provided for to this day.
The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention evaluated that conditions in Camp Liberty are synonymous to a detention center not in conformity with the standards and principles of international human rights law, and more specifically violate article 9 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and articles 9 and 10 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
The residents have announced their requests for minimum humanitarian necessities in an 8-point document, including the transfer of their private property from Camp Ashraf to Liberty, construction of pathways for the ill and canopies in the 55 degrees Celsius summer heat. Our assessment is that until these vital humanitarian needs are provided for, the relocation of the remaining Ashraf residents to Liberty must not proceed.
Furthermore, in line with many MPs from across the world we call for the UN Secretary-General to appoint a personal envoy that enjoys the residents’ trust.
