Former Algerian PM renounced France for keeping PMOI in black list

In an article in Ashraq al-Awsat daily, published in London, Sid Ahmad Ghozali, former Algerian Prime Minister, called the French government measure in maintaining the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) in the terrorist list an illegal measure and described it as an act against the Iranian and European people’s interests and a cause of growth of terrorism and fundamentalism in the world.

In an article titled as “Is Europe bound to the rule of Law?” Ghozali wrote: “There is no doubt that listing the PMOI in the list of terrorist organizations was not aimed at fighting against terrorism; rather the objective was to give a gift to the ruling regime of Iran. Consequently it encouraged the regime’s terrorism”.

Sid Ahmad Ghozali added: “This measure by the French government:
First of all is against the Iranian people’s interests and it means continuation and approving executions and suppression and export of terrorism and fundamentalism to other countries as well as approving Iran’s project for acquiring nuclear weapon.

Secondly: This measure is against the Europe’s interests because this way, France has violated the rule of law and rejects the demands of the European people; because more then 2,000 EP representatives have announced the necessity of annulment of terrorist label against the PMOI.

Thirdly: The question is whether the Republic of France, with all its values, is asking for such a procedure? Undoubtedly the answer is negative; we can say that this measure is aligned with interests of some economic bands and that they are the ones who govern. Because there is no doubt that the Iranian regime is a shaky regime and cannot tolerate even slightest internal opposition; let alone to its main opposition that seeks to overthrow that regime.
