European Parliamentarians and jurist urge EU to follow UK and remove PMOI from terrorist list

In an interview with INTV (Iran National TV) being asked about the consequences of the historic decision of the UK Court, Lord Russell Johnston, the former Chair of EU Parliamentary Council, said: The ruling of the UK court of Appeal was the most significant verdict in Britain. According to this ruling, inclusion of the PMOI in the terror list was perverse and unjust based on both the documents that have been published and the classified documents that the Court Judge had access to them. This ruling was very powerful.

Lord Russell Johnston reiterated that insisting on maintaining the PMOI in the terrorist list is shameful and after the ruling of the UK Court of Appeal, the European countries must open a new sheet and annul this designation.

Yanoush Evenscovich, member of EP from Poland and deputy of EP Foreign Commission, stressed that including the PMOI in the terrorist list lacks any legitimacy and this designation must be annulled by the EU quickly.

David Wagen, prominent British jurist and the PMOI’s lawyer in the European Court of Justice, said the UK court verdict was the implementation of the rule of law and specifies that neither in the open documents, nor in the classified documents, no legal basis for putting the PMOI in the black list existed. The EU also acted upon the same basis and put the PMOI in the list. Therefore, no material basis exists for keeping PMOI in the list and the European Council must remove the PMOI from the list.
