Egyptian human rights organizations condemn attack on Ashraf

According to the Iraq News Agency website, human rights associations in Egypt announced their deep concerns regarding the deteriorating humanitarian conditions of refugees who have lived in Iraq and Camp Ashraf for the past 25 years. This website reported Camp Ashraf was attacked in June 2009 by Iraqi forced leaving 11 residents killed and over 500 wounded. Another attack in April 2011 left 35 killed and over 350 wounded. All this pressure, including psychological torture and being treated as prisoners, are taking place while Ashraf residents have lived in Iraq for over 25 years and from 2004were recognized as ‘protected persons’ under the Fourth Geneva Convention.
