Dutch group supports Europe plan for Ashraf

In a letter to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton, the Dutch Group of Friends of a Free Iran welcomed the emphasis and negotiations of the foreign ministers of the 27-nation EU bloc during Council of Ministers sessions in Brussels regarding the Ashraf crisis and the necessity of respect for the residents’ human rights. This group also welcomed an agreement on the importance of cooperation with the UN and US to find a lasting solution.

Taking part in a conference in the European Parliament, European and US politicians called on the UN, EU and US demanding immediate action to find a lasting and peaceful solution for the crisis in Ashraf.

The Dutch group of Friends of a Free Iran welcomed the plan presented by Europe on Iraq announcing, “We also stress on the initiative for an urgent guarantee of Ashraf residents’ security to provide the needed conditions to find a lasting and peaceful solution. We also reiterate the warning expressed time and again by Ashraf residents that any kind of displacement will make the current situation more complex, and we hold the US and EU responsible in this regard.”
