
Dutch Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal expressed his full support behind Baroness Ashton’s position on Camp Ashraf, the Dutch Foreign Ministry Website said citing Rosenthal’s report on the EU Council Foreign Minister’s Session to the country’s parliament speaker.
The EU High Representative was very concerned about the situation in Camp Ashraf in Iraq, Rosenthal stressed. She called on all Member States to place pressure on the Iraqi government to maintain Camp Ashraf open to allow UNCHR conduct its work of registering the residents.
Baroness Ashton went on to strongly request from the Iraqi government to cooperate completely, Rosenthal’s report continues. Ms. Ashton’s special advisor on Camp Ashraf affairs, diplomat Jean Du Ruyt, is attempting to begin an adequate process with the assistance of the UN.
