72nd day of Liberty hunger strike: floods engulfed Liberty, making transfer of patients to clinic very difficult

INTV, 10 Nov 2013 – Camp Liberty residents surpassed their 72nd day of hunger strike in conditions where in the first rainfall of the season flood waters engulfed the entire camp, adding to the already existing serious problems for the residents. The floodwaters have made the roads and all other paths impassable, and these conditions have made the transfer of hunger striking patients to the camp clinic very difficult. Many of these patients had gone unconscious, while others were suffering from serious tensions. This situation has increased the threat to the lives of many of the hunger strikers who have refused to eat any food for over 70 days. This is the result of the crimes committed by Martin Kobler, the previous UNSG Special Representative in Iraq who resorted to lies and deceits – and secret deals with the Iraqi government – in enforcing liberty as a temporary transit camp to the residents; A camp which has up to now taken the lives of numerous residents, because of its serious limitations and shortages.
Iraqi agents, following orders issued by the mullahs’ regime in Iran, have actually welcomed the gulf waters to increase the pressures on the hunger striking residents and try to force them to give in.
In such conditions on the 72nd day of the hunger strike, Liberty resident Ms. Amire Nouri suffered from critically low blood pressure, spasms and severe pain in her chest. Other residents painstakingly took her to the camp’s Iraqi clinic.
Her conditions have currently relatively stabilized but there is the possibility of her suffering another shock. This scenario is also possible for a number of other hunger striking residents whose natural body defense mechanisms have disrupted. The Liberty residents’ medical staff have warned of this very dangerous situation.
