UN Human Rights Council reports on Iranian American pastor

On Wednesday, September 17th, the United Nations Human Rights Council issued a report on the conditions of Iranian-American Pastor Saeed Abedini that has been condemned to 8 years behind bars, protesting this ruling and demanding his imminent and unconditional release.
In this regard, Naghme Abedini, the pastor’s wife, expressed deep concerns about her husband’s conditions considering his illness. Mrs. Abedini welcomed the position taken by the UNHRC and hoped such efforts will lead to her husband’s release.
Many US senators and congressmen from both sides of the aisle issued a letter to US Secretary of State John Kerry calling on him to take measures to guarantee the immediate release of Saeed Abedini.
Pastor Saeed Abedini, having American citizenship, was convicted to 8 years in jail by a Tehran court on charges of encouraging for Christianity and actions against national security.
