Tehran traffic officers taking orders from the Suppressive State Security forces on Sunday stopped a number of taxies with the aim of slapping fines on them under pretext of violating driving rules. This plan has recently been taken up by the government agencies to replace the budget loss due to the constant drop in the oil prices which the Iranian regime relies on for its annual budged.
But the drivers reacted and resisted against this plundering scheme and refrained from paying the illegitimate fine, according to local sources. Some of the taxi drivers clashed with agents of extortion and made them retreat. The traffic officers eventually arrested a number of drivers and took them away forcibly.
This organized extortion and harassment is with the aim to substitute the deficit in the Rouhani government’s budget.
