Senator Robert Corker, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday expressed deep doubts about the efficiency of the agreement reached on blocking Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Congress will carefully evaluate if the Vienna agreement was worth lifting sanctions on Iran, which were reached after painstaking measures, he said.
Senator Corker also shed light on Iran’s role in supporting global terrorism, especially after obtaining unfrozen assets, adding this issue placed the US and its allies facing major threats.
Hearings on the agreement will be held late July and the vote on approving or rejecting the agreement will be conducted in mid-September.
