Report: 11 suicides a day in Iran

Statistics show from March 2013 to January 2014 there was an average of 11 suicides a day in Iran, the state-run ISNA news agency reported.
According to numbers issued by the state Forensics Organization in the course of these 9 months, 3,125 people committed suicide in Iran, amongst whom 982 were women and 2,143 were men. In the same period the year before 2,740 had lost their lives to reasons defined by forensics as suicide.
From March 2012 to March 2013, from the total number of deaths suspected of being from suicide most were among the age group of 18 to 24, consisting of 28.2% of all the suicides taking place these years.
The current numbers reveal that 5 to 7 thousand people lose their lives through suicide each year, with half of them being in large cities, one fourth in small and medium size cities, and the remaining being in villages.
