Qazvin, Iran – 170 contracting workers of Iran Electric Meter Factory lost their job

April 26th, 2015 – 170 workers of Electric Meter Factory who had been hired based on their contracts, were laid off without receiving their last 2 months of salary after the contract was expired.
According to the workers, the management had referred 170 of contracting workers to the personal office after the New Year holidays under the pretext of adjustment.  These workers have been laid off because they were demanding their delayed payments and of their colleagues. And now the manager is looking to hire 200 new workers. Some of the dismissed workers had worked more than 10 years in this factory.  The so called adjustments have made in Electric Meter building part of the factory, and more layoffs are expected to follow. This is at the time, according to the workers; the manager is indebted to the workers for 2 months’ of unpaid salary and insurance benefits.
