New details of Iran-linked busted terror network in Kuwait

The arrested members of a terrorist network in Kuwait were in contact with the Lebanese Hezbollah, al-Bawaba website reported on Saturday, August 15th.
Reuters had previously reported Kuwait authorities had discovered a large amount of weapons and ammunition under a house near the Iraqi border, all belonging to this network. This network was planning and plotting to carry out attacks to destabilize Kuwait.
19,000 kilograms of ammunition , 144 kilograms of explosives, 68 pieces of various types of weapon and 204 hand grenades were secretly cached by this group in Kuwait’s al-Badali district, according to the official state-run KUNA news agency.
The discovered ammunition and weapons were smuggled by the terrorist network from Iraq into Kuwait and the members of the terrorist cell were in contact with the Iran-backed Lebanese Hezbollah, the Arab-language al-Anba newspaper in Kuwait reported. The members of this group were under surveillance of Kuwait security authorities for some time. Those arrested admitted they belonged to a terrorist organization and this entity was previously active in Bahrain carrying out terrorist activities.
Bahrain was the first country in 2013 to place the Lebanese Hezbollah on its terrorist list. The military wing of this group was blacklisted by the European Union also in 2013.
The leader of this Lebanese Hezbollah-associated terror cell arrested in Kuwait said in his confessions that had become a Hezbollah member 16 years ago and met with various Hezbollah officials in different periods, Kuwait’s al-Ray daily reported. The first traces of this network was found in the Abduli farms and was discovered after it was placed under surveillance as a secret weapons cache.
Members of this network were waiting for a specific timing to begin bombing various targets with the goal of creating instability.
It is worth noting that Kuwait’s security apparatus had this network under surveillance for 16 years and had already gained access to their facilities where they had hidden weapons and ammunition.
