Ayatollah Safi, while stressing on discrimination against women, wrote in a piece: “Being a housewife is a great worship for Muslim women. It is not worth it and it is far from expectation that in our Islamic country of Iran, abandoning the chador become fashion and some girls do not use the chador!
“In the current situation … women have relations and cooperation with men they don’t know and they have turned it into a habit and tradition and they appear in the streets and gatherings in fashion that doesn’t meet Islamic teachings.”
“Gender separation is a fundamental criterion for the society’s health. Using the chador and being modest and allocating some jobs to women and some jobs to men is based on this gender separation and its rules and order,” he stressed. (State-run ISNA news agency – July 22, 2014)
