More areas in Tehran are the scene of festivities despite the government’s decision to ban the Fire Festival ceremonies

Latest report from the capital Tehran indicates that at 1700 hours local time Laleh St. youth have taken to the street exploding fire crackers and other bonfire elements ignoring the government ban and intimidations. It’s has been more than 2 hours since the youth in downtown capital have started the ceremony jumping over the fire and shouting anti-government slogans. Reports also indicate that in front of the famous Plasco Building in Tehran, people are setting whatever they can find on fire. There is also a huge crowd gathering around Molavi Bridge.
In Enghelab (Revolution) St. at about 1700 hours Tehran time young and old are playing with fire crackers making loud noises and chanting anti-government slogans. This is despite the State Security Police trying to prevent the spread of the ceremony to other parts of the city. The youth are saying these intimidations have no effect on people and they are enjoying the ceremony and that the streets are getting crowded by minute.  
In Vanak St. north of Tehran, there are sounds of explosions of fire crackers.
The Feast of Fire is a traditional ceremony which is held on the eve of the last Wednesday of the year.
