
According to the Mocarian News Agency’s human rights service, a Kurdish prisoner from Orumieh named Khalil Salehi committed suicide in city prison. In addition to the increase of pressures on the Kurds as a whole, the Iranian regime is especially inflicting tremendous hardship on Kurdish prisoners. It has been said that Khalil Salehi committed suicide in Orumieh Prison on Thursday, November 23 due to psychological pressure. He was transferred to a hospital and there is now news to this day about his status. In another case, a prisoner in Orumieh Central Prison by the name of Ahmad Tamoui was transferred to solitary confinement a few days ago.
According to Herana News Agency, Ahmad Tamoui was arrested in 2007 on charges of membership in a dissident group. He was later handed a 15-year jail sentence and exile in Orumieh Central Prison on charges of ‘moharebe’ (enmity against God).
There is no news about the reason behind this prisoner’s recent transfer to solitary confinement.
