The mullahs’ Majlis (parliament) Judicial Commission spokesman said the country’s prisons are literally packed with inmates, the state-run Jahan News website reported.
“Increasing the number of prisoners across the country will most definitely bring about many problems for the system,” commission spokesman Asafnani said.
Previously, the regime’s own officials had announced nearly 200,000 prisoners are being held in the prisons of the mullahs’ dictatorship.
