Iranians in Tehran stage anti-government demonstration against Khamenei’s land-grabbing policies

People in Tehran staged an anti-government demonstration against Khamenei’s land-grabbing policies and measures taken by his office. Protesters chanted against Khamenei in this popular demonstration, with over 1,000 members of social institutions in Tehran and Karaj (west of Tehran) taking part outside the regime’s Ministry of Housing and protesting Khamenei’s measures to grasp their previously purchased real estate. The protesters demanded the lands, purchased over 10 years ago to build homes, to be returned to their rightful owners. However, Khamenei’s office, with support provided by the Revolutionary Guards, has blocked the transfer of these purchased real estates.
Based on reports from inside Iran, these real estates are located in Tehran’s 1st District and the Alborz sector. The surrounding areas have been handed over to the IRGC and the judiciary and various building projects have been conducted. This is while around ten years ago these real estates were distributed and sold to various social institutions. However, Khamenei’s office is attempting to confiscate these lands through force. Therefore, ten years after the sale, the regime’s institutions are depriving the people of licenses to carry out various building projects in this area, while the ownership documents of these real estates have been registered under the names of social institution members.
During their rallyprotesters intended to enter the Ministry of Housing building and the regime’s officials, fearing the aftermath, responded by closing the building’s entrances.
Reports also indicate a Ministry of Housing deputy attempted to calm the crowd and prevent the protest from spreading, yet the demonstrators pressed on their requests and demanded answers once and for all after ten years.
