Iran: Workers of Almehdi Aluminum Factory stage protest

More than 200 workers from the Almehdi Aluminum Factory in the Iranian city of Bandar Abbas, (Hormozgan province) staged a protest in front of the factory’s administrative building in the early hours of Wednesday, December 28, against their abrupt layoff.
“There are 230 of us, all contract workers in the service department of the factory, who had been hired for services such as landscape and janitorial maintenance and pantry”, said one of the protesting workers. He added: “The foreman did not allow the workers to enter the premises since this morning. They say the reason for these layoffs is the insufficient budget. The workers believe that it is not right that our bosses lay us off after exploiting us.”
It’s worthy to note that the workers of the Almehdi Aluminum Factory have staged a protest on numerous occasions, demanding a resolution of their employment conditions.
