A group of retired workers of haft-Tapeh” Sugarcane Compound protested on Dec. 27 and 28, 2016 against not being paid their retirement pensions and benefits.
About 200 workers who have been retired since March 2016 have not been paid yet
“About 150 of protesters demand their retirement salary while the rest want their 4% share of social welfare for difficult or harmful jobs.” Said one of the protesting worker. “The government owes 700 million rials to each retired worker. There have been similar protests in the past and so far there has been no answer.”
