Iran: Widespread Clashes in Mahabad and Sar-Dasht

From late afternoon hours of Monday, May 11th two major Kurdish cities of Mahabad and Bukan, western Iran, became the scene of clashes between democratic and freedom loving youth and residents on one side and the regime’s suppressive security forces and intelligence ministry agents on the other.
In most streets leading to the city’s main bus terminal, hundreds of youth clashed with the state security forces. Mullahs’ regime intelligence ministry agents attacked houses in and around these streets breaking in and arresting more than 200 people, mainly the youth. Most of the arrests happened at Azadi intersection of Mahabad. But the brave and restless youth were not intimidated and by using hid and run tactics, continued their struggle against the suppressive element of the clerical regime in both Bukan, 32 mi southeast of Mahabad and Mahabad itself.

Some unconfirmed reports also indicate that the city of Baneh, 55 mi south of Mahabad also joined the Kurdish people uprising.
