
Political prisoners of Salmas (north-west Iran) Prison are under tough and excruciating conditions. They are deprived of the minimum human necessities. The condition of their nourishment, in amount and in quality, is very poor, and it is to a degree that the prisoners are unable to use it.
The political prisoners are deprived of serious medical care and their chronic illnesses are treated with pain reliving pills. The treatment of the prison guards and the warden towards them is barbaric and inhumane. In order to place pressure on the political prisoners, they have been transferred to the ward holding drug addicts, which the conditions of is horrible. The name of some of the political prisoners that have been transferred to this ward are: Vahid Banizadeh, sentenced to 25 years imprisonment, Farhad Challesh, sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, Ehsan Toupast, sentenced to 13 years imprisonment, and political prisoner Maha al-Dean Amini, sentenced to 3 years imprisonment.
