More than 200 workers from Arak Petrochemical Company staged a demonstration in front of the company office Tuesday Dec. 2nd.
The company decided to expel more than 200 employees under the pretext of lack of enough budget right after a drop in the company’s market value and shareholders apathy to invest in this company. One of the employees said that most of the expelled workers have been working for more than 10 years in this company, but their complaints against this anti-labor move have fallen on to the deaf ears. The only answer they get is that they are sorry and their hands are tight.
The anti-labor laws in Iran allows company owner to fire and hire easily without considering any consequences. This has made many workers jobless and increases the unrest in the society.
