NCRI, 12 Oct 2013 – The Iranian regime is staging ‘show trials’ at universities around the country to counter mounting support for the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) among the students in the aftermath of the Camp Ashraf massacre.
Agents from the Ministry of Intelligence and Security are holding the ‘show trials’ to reveal ‘true colours’ of the PMOI, who are branded ‘potential enemies of the Islamic Republic’, the state-run Fars News Agency reported.
The first such sham trial at Alama University to be attended by Ezatollah Ezat Shahi, the notoriously brutal commander from Tehran’s Central Committee, which played a key role in the murders and suppression of the 1980s, Fars News Agency said.
The agency added: “This trial is being held following the departure of the PMOI from Camp Ashraf, their strategic center for its activities in the region and is aimed at revealing true colors of the group.”
One respected Iranian political analyst said: “The massacre of members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran in Camp Ashraf on September 1 has outraged all those who oppose the Iranian regime and has caused much political awareness within the country, leading many to express their support for the PMOI.”
In the past two years, the regime’s mullahs have held hundreds of exhibitions at Iran’s universities attempting to ‘defame’ the PMOI through pictures and films. These exhibitions were halted after they were ignored by students.
Meanwhile, the mullahs continue to broadcast programs and TV series on the main national TV networks aimed at demonizing the PMOI.
