Iran: jailed teachers taken to court on first day of new school year

Mehdi Bahluli and Mohammad Reza Nik-nezhad, two imprisoned teachers in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison, were summoned to court Wednesday, marking the first day of the new Iranian school year. Moghise, one of the leading henchmen involved in the massacre of political prisoners back in 1988, was the so-called judge of this court hearing.
According to another report, the Teachers Union had called on all members to wear black clothing on this first day of the school year and one teacher in the city of Roodsar, northern Iran, was summoned for wearing such clothing.
This teacher, Mr. Teymouri, was summoned by the school security and Ministry of Intelligence agents only 20 minutes his class began.
The call made by the Teachers Union to wear black clothing was in protest to the recent increase in crackdown measures against teachers across Iran.
