Female political prisoners in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison held a ceremony on November 26th marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
They discussed various challenges women in Iran and solutions in this regard, including efforts to be made in the struggle against all types of violence imposed on women.
It is worth noting that on 17 October 1999 the United Nations General Assembly approved this day as an international day. This very day was chosen following the murder of three sisters, known political activists from the Dominican Republic.
