Mansoure Amir Abadi, head of the center of rounding up criminals in the city of Birjand, referred to this fact that from March of this year up to June 21st, 55 criminals in Birjand were arrested. “Of this number 29 were men and the remaining were women,” he stipulated.
Amir Abadi said 36 drug addicts were among those arrested. “Of this number 12 were men and 24 were women,” he added.
“Divorce, drug addiction and not having any caretaker are amongst the main reasons behind women resorting to crimes,” Abadi continued. (State-run ISNA news agency – June 30, 2014)
