Over 1,000 miners working at the East Alborz Coal Mine (located in Iran’s Semnan Province) held a protest rally on Monday, July 14th, protesting the privatization of this mine and also transferring its lands to the municipality branch of the city of Shahroud. The protesting miners went on strike and held a rally outside the mine vicinity and before the administrative building.
Transferring these lands that are located in the center of Shahroud, while 5% of this property belongs to the workers, was carried out by the privatization company without informing the workers and the Iranian regime intends to take complete control over this mine.
These workers have to this day protested similar measures on many instances and the regime has each time promised to cancel this plan. But after some time and under another secretive measure they attempt to try once again take control over the mine.
