The entrance of men and women into one concert has turned into a debate between the Iranian regime’s parliament and the “Guidance” Department in the city of Ghazvin.
“We are not against any of the arts. We are against men and women mixing at concerts. This can never be called art and God has damned such an art!” said Ghazvin Friday prayer leader Abedini said.
“We are not against holding concerts. However, what we are saying is that there should be more precision regarding concerts that are being held. We have requested that these concerts be staged with the least possible mixing [of men and women],” said Morteza Hosseini, member of the Iranian regime’s parliament Cultural Commission.

Last year a concert held by Mohsen Yegane in the city of Urumieh, northwestern Iran, was cancelled for not abiding by the gender segregation plan. This May a concert scheduled for Massoud Shaheri and Hossein Alishayur were cancelled for being a co-ed concert due to the presence of a female musician.
