Iran: 500 Tabriz petrochemical workers on strike

Over 500 Tabriz petrochemical workers launched a strike after their negotiations with the plant director general ended in futile, incoming reports indicate.
This strike on began on Sunday, June 15th, and the main demand of the workers is an increase in their wages of at least 5 million rials a month to their initial salaries.
After launching their strike, with support increasing on a daily basis, the secretary general and petrochemical officials tried as usual to provide hollow promises to the protesting workers and convinced them to return to work. However, the workers neglected such threats and promises and continued their strike.
Sadr, the regime’s director general in the petrochemical plant, said in a recent session in response to the protesting workers, “Why do you buy cars?! Why do you buy home appliances?! Why do you even get sick so that your wages don’t allow you to make ends meet?!”
The workers are determined to continue their strike until their demands are met.
