At the time of her arrest Wang-Woodford was carrying two merchandise catalogs from a Chinese company listed as a proliferator of weapons of mass destruction by the US Treasury Department, the letter alleged.
Items advertised in the catalogs of the China National Precision Machinery Import and Export Corporation included surface-to-air missile systems and rocket launchers, it said.
ABC cited government officials as saying Wang-Woodford had been selling “munitions” to Iran for more than 16 years.
“The offenses charged in the indictment are serious in nature, involving conduct that could impact the national security of the United States,” the attorney letter stated, urging the judge to keep Wang-Woodford behind bars.
