Huckabee creates new ’Daisy’ ad to warn against Iran deal

The Hill – July 10, 2015- Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has dusted off the iconic “Daisy” add to warn of the dangers of a nuclear deal with Iran.

“We must reject any deal with Iran that gives them a nuclear bomb,” Huckabee said in an emailed statement announcing the ad.

“Any deal that does this will spark a nuclear arms race in the Middle East, threaten Israel’s existence, and unleash a wave of terrorism around the world.”
Huckabee’s version of the ad ends with text stating that “a threat to Israel is a threat to America” and “reject a nuclear Iran,” before asking people to sign a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry on Huckabee’s website.

The original “Daisy” ad, one of the most famous and controversial campaign ads in history, was famously only aired once.

Huckabee’s notes in small print that the ad is courtesy of the DNC, because the party made it free to the public through the Johnson presidential library’s website as long as the DNC is credited.

Republican presidential candidates and lawmakers continue to pan the Obama administration for negotiating with Iran and warn that a bad deal could cause chaos.

The international negotiators blew through another deadline Friday and have extended the deadline to Monday.
