Paris filed an official complaint at the International Union of Communications against Iran for transmitting jamming signals on satellite TV broadcasts, announcing France is in dialogue with its European partners regarding the imposition of sanctions in this regard.
“We are strongly concerned over satellite TV jamming by Iran, which is in violation of international obligations,” the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“Therefore, France has filed a complaint to the International Union of Communications which is responsible for such issues,” the statement added.
“We deeply believe in freedom of communication and transmitting jamming signals on such networks is against these principles,” said French Foreign Ministry deputy spokesman Vincent Floréani.
“These jamming signals are taking place due to various criticizing reports of Iran’s policies published by numerous media outlets,” he added.
“Paris is engaged in dialogue with its European partners in this regard,” he said in response to a question on imposing sanctions against the clerical dictatorship.
